Gears Tactics will see you guiding your team of four units through a variety of turn-based tactics combat scenarios against the Locust threat. While combat’s the main order, players also have the ability to customize character appearance in Gears Tactics to give all that gore a more personalized feel.
Changing Character Appearance in Gears Tactics
There are two different types of units in Gears Tactics. What type a unit is determines how much you’ll be able to change character appearance. We’ve explained this more thoroughly down below.
Customizing Hero Appearances in Gears Tactics
Heroes are story-related characters and cannot ‘die’ within the campaign of Gears Tactics. In other words, the story won’t go on if a character dies in a mission.
With these Hero characters being important to the story, you actually have limited options when it comes to changing up how they look. The only ways you can change their appearance are to customize the weapon and armor that the hero is wearing.
This can be done by heading to the Barracks option and selecting the Hero you’d like to customize.
Next, select the weapon or armor piece you’d like to customize. You can also change the character’s undershirt, though this doesn’t really do anything to their general appearance.
Customizing Troop Character Appearances in Gears Tactics
All your other characters in Gears Tactics are known as ‘Troops’ and can be found just below your Heroes on the left-hand sidebar.
To customize a Troop’s appearance, click on the character and then scroll down on the pane that opens.
You’ll now be given a variety of different options you can tweak from hairstyle and hair color, down to face type. We’ve listed all parts of a Troop’s appearance that can be changed below:
- Hair Colors
- Facial Hair
- Facial Hair Color
- Facial Scars
- Upper Face
- Lower Face
Simply select the appearance option that you want to change the look of and select the one you want to change it to. Confirm your selection and you’re all good to go.
Just like your Hero characters, your Troops can also have their weapons and armor customized to help you personalize your squad.
