Here is everything you need to know about how to get married in Rune Factory 4.

Who Can You Marry?

Rune Factory 4 is the first title in the series to have a dating system implemented. Players can have the main character enter into a gender-specific relationship with the following characters:

Bachelorettes (Lest):Bachelors (Frey)
AmberArthur
CloricaDoug
DolceDylas
ForteKiel
MargaretLeon
Xiao PaiVishnal

You can be in a relationship with all six Bachelorettes or Bachelors at a time. The moment you get married to one character, the rest of the relationships will return to simply being friends with your character.

Before you can think about marrying these candidates, you’ll need to build up your relationship. To be specific, you’ll need to build up the Love Points (LP) between whatever character you want to court and the protagonist.

How Do You Get Love Points?

Love points can be built using a number of different ways. Conversations and gift-giving are the easiest ways to build LP to start. Just stick to the romantic options of dialog and find out each character’s favorite gifts when you begin relationships.

Once you reach around 7-9 LP points, you can ask a character to be your boyfriend or girlfriend. At this point, you’ll want to start going on dates with them.

Going on dates build LP considerably quicker than gifts or conversation does at later levels.

How to Get Married in Rune Factory 4

Once you reach 10 LP, you are pretty close to getting married. All you need to do is meet some prerequisites, including trigger two events: a sub-event and a marriage event.

Sub-events trigger somewhat randomly, but there are multiple occurrences. Marriage events will only occur after the player completes the following:

  • Currently dating them
  • Gone on at least three dates
  • Complete a sub-event
  • LP at 10 or higher
  • Have a double bed
  • Get an engagement ring (Crafted at level 20 crafting skill in the crafting table with recipe)

Once you’ve met these prerequisites, a proposal can occur in one of two ways.

The first happens at random, with your marriage candidate proposing to you. All you’ll have to do is accept.

The second is done by the player. This can be initiated by talking to your candidate and selecting the marriage option.

Keep in mind that even though you can marry at any time in the game, some characters require you to progress through certain points in the story and complete missions to unlock the ability to marry them.
