Today Aniplex officially announced with a press release two games dedicated to the popular anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
The first game is for mobile, titled “Kaimetsu no Yaiba: Keppu Kengeki Royale.” It’ll release in Japan this year for iOS and Android and it’ll, of course, be free-to-play with optional microtransactions.
The development of the game is handled by Quatro A and Soleil, and the genre is defined as “asymmetric battle survival action.”
Players are split in two teams, demon slayers and demons. The game reproduces tghe conflict between demon hunters and man-eating demons on a map that recreates the world of the anime.
The second game is a console game for PS4, titled “Kaimetsu no Yaiba:Â Hinokami Keppu Tan.”
The genre is “demon-slaying action” and the story follows that of the anime, with Tanjiro Kamado who becomes a demon-slayer to protect the people and his sister Nezuko, who has become a demon herself.
The release window is 2021. For now, we know only about the involvement of Aniplex, and we have no information on whether a third-party developer will be tasked with directly working on the game.
A teaser site has already been opened, but we have no screenshots or footage for either title. The press release included the logos for both games and a key visual drawn by Ufotable, which you can see in the gallery below.
If you’re unfamiliar with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, it debuted as a manga series by Koyoharu Gotoge in 2016 on Weekly Shounen Jump. It then sparked an anime TV series aired last year.
