A big part of the new Fortnite Battle Royale update was the addition of splitscreen multiplayer on Xbox One and PS4. It’s a long awaited feature that’ll allow friends and family to play together from the comfort of your own couch. So that you start a match quickly, here’s everything you need to know about how to play splitscreen multiplayer in Fortnite.
You’re able to sign into your own account, rather than playing as a guest, allowing you to progress as you would if you were playing on your own.
How to Play Splitscreen Multiplayer in Fortnite
The first thing you need to do is load up Fortnite Battle Royale as you usually would and turn on the second controller that you want to use. Then, get your splitscreen multiplayer partner to sign into their account.
Then, once the second player is logged into the PS4 or Xbox One, you need to hold X (PS4) or A (Xbox One) until the little circle at the bottom of the screen is filled in, where the message to do so was.
Then, wait for your character to appear in the lobby and do what you need to do to get match ready.
If Player One wants to take control of the menu in the lobby again, hold X/A once more to take over, as it’ll say at the bottom of the screen.
Then, once you’re all ready to go, press triangle (PS4) or Y (Xbox One) to ready up. Then, once Fortnite has found a game for you, it’ll load and you’ll be playing in splitscreen multiplayer.
In short, to play splitscreen multiplayer in Fortnite:
- Turn on the second controller and sign in to the console.
- Hold X or A to join the lobby.
- Press triangle/Y to start the match.
