Zelda Link’s Awakening: How to Get Bow and Arrow

Link’s Awakening for Switch is a new remake of the 1993 Game Boy classic, but most aspects of the game remain the same, especially how to get certain items. If you’re wondering how to get the bow and arrow in Link’s Awakening, here’s what you need to know.

Getting the Bow and Arrow in Link’s Awakening

Unlike other mainline Zelda titles, the bow and arrow in Link’s Awakening isn’t a quest item that you’ll get in a dungeon or given to you by an NPC in the story, but it’s something that you have to buy yourself that makes the game a bit easier.

When you start the game, you’ll see a shop in Mabe Village called the Town Tool Shop and it’ll have various items on sale, but the bow and arrow will not be there at first.

But, once you get a bit farther into the story, like around 1-2 dungeons completed, the bow and arrow will appear in the shop for you to purchase for 980 rupees.

The price point is very high and you won’t even be close to having that much money at the beginning of the game, but once you find more rare rupees, you’re bound to eventually have enough to go back to the shop and purchase it.

But, if you don’t want to cough up the dough, there is an alternative.

How to Steal the Bow and Arrow

Just like the old game, you are able to steal from the shop if you confuse the shopkeeper. If you run around in circles and make him look away from you, Link can take the item and run out the front door without paying, but there are consequences.

Every character and NPC in the game will begin to call Link a THIEF and if you try to go back into the shop, you will get killed immediately by the shopkeeper by way of his magical electric attack, so if you plan on buying more items from him, we recommend just saving up your rupees and being a good guy.

In short,

  1. You can buy the bow and arrow from the shop for 980 rupees a little bit after the first dungeon or two.

  2. If you don’t want to buy it, you can attempt to steal it by tricking the shopkeeper.

And that is all you need to know about how to get the bow and arrow in Link’s Awakening. For more on the new Switch title, be sure to check out our extensive wiki guide and our scored review. We’ve also listed some other helpful guides on the game down below.
