Today Bandai Namco released its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year, related to the period between April 1 and June 30.
As you can see in the table below, overall sales for the whole company have seen a modest but visible increase year-over-year, but operating profit is the area that showcased a large growth.
Overall, we can say that the performance shows a very positive trend.
Speaking of the Network Entertainment Business, which includes games, Bandai Namco explains that titles from major franchises like Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Idolmaster have performed well. Specifically in the home video game segment, repeat sales of catalog titles (released in the previous quarter) like Jump Force, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, and Dragon Ball FighterZ were solid especially overseas due to continued initiatives aimed to appease the users.
Net sales for the Network Entertainment Business were up 1.8% year-over-year, while profit grew by a massive 41.4%.
The company also increased its prediction for operating profit (but not for net sales) between April and September 2019, but did not increase the full-year outlook just yet.
If you’d like to compare, you can check out the financial results for the previous quarter, which were published in May.
