With Lumina, an exotic hand cannon that also functions as a support weapon, becoming available for Destiny 2 players that have the annual pass, you are probably going to want to pick it up as soon as possible. Lumina has some lore connections with Thorn, and you may be wondering if you need Thorn to get Lumina.
To obtain Lumina, you are going to need to first complete the quest that goes along with it. In true Destiny fashion, this means solving some fairly esoteric puzzles, gathering materials from all across the galaxy, and blasting baddies in new and interesting ways.
And, perhaps most important of all, you may be wondering if you need to complete the Thorn questline and obtain the dark hand cannon that is linked to the Lumina in so many ways. This is quite an involved process, and the quests are similar in structure, so it would be best to avoid doing so unless you wanted the Thorn for its own sake.
Do You Need Thorn to Get Lumina in Destiny 2?
Thankfully, no, you do not need Thorn in order to get Lumina. Thorn is a powerful hand cannon in its own right and is well worth adding to your collection, and if you are interested we have a guide to help you do just that.
Getting Lumina does require returning to the place that the Thorn questline begins, in the Salt Mines, north of the spawn point at the Trostlands, in the EDZ.
But that is only the very first step, and things get quite a bit more difficult from this point onwards. Thankfully we have already compiled a full, step-by-step guide on how to see the quest through, so be sure to check that out here.
If you are stuck in Destiny 2 and need some assistance, chances are we have a guide for you, so take a look at our expansive wiki.
