We hear that since the Neo Geo Mini has sold more than expected, the company is planning to release a Neo Geo 2 and a Neo Geo 3.  While few details have been provided, they’re not follow-ups to the Neo Geo Mini, but they are their own products. While the Mini was a closed platform, the Neo Geo 2 will be partly open.

On top of that, we learn that SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy sold over 300,000 copies worldwide, and has been successful enough that some companies have already been inquiring about licensing the IP.

One of the most exciting teases is that a console game based on the Metal Slug franchise is currently being developed. This is a completely different project from the mobile game in development by one of Tencent’s subsidiaries.

This is certainly interesting, even if the writing was on the wall. Producer Yasuyuki Oda hinted to the will to work on the Metal Slug franchise last time I interviewed him. It looks like that things are finally coming to a head, and we might hear about the game sometime soon, even if we don’t know which consoles the game is acytually being developed for.

Proud weeb hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long-standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
