New Sea of Thieves Trailer Shows Fishing and Harpoon Drifting

Today Rare and Microsoft released a new trailer of Sea of Thieves, showing off some of the features coming with the Anniversary Update.

Specifically, we get to see the upcoming fishing feature, which will tie up with cooking and the ability to grab some cold-hard cold by turning in your catches to the appropriate NPCs.

You’ll also be able to upgrade your rods and enjoy the learning process required to catch rare fish.

Another interesting feature is the harpoon gun, of which each ship will get a pair. Those can be used to grab floating items, to latch onto enemy ships and reel them in (after all, it’s all about fishing, isn’t it?) or even to hook onto islands for some healthy galleon drifting.

You can just plug your harpoon into something solid, and your ship will start going sideways like the hot rod it can be.

You can check out the trailer below. The update, with all its new content and feature, will release in just a couple of weeks, on April 30.

Sea of Thieves is currently available for Xbox One and Windows 10. Those who have a subscription to Xbox Game Pass can access the game at no additional cost.

One year in, it certainly appears that the game has come into its own.
