Where to Go After Beating Genichiro Ashina in Sekiro

Recommended Videos

While Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice isn’t exactly an open world game in which you can go wherever you want, the game does start to get a little more open after a certain point. Here’s where to go after beating Genichiro Ashina in Sekiro.

You’ll get your rematch with Genichiro after reaching Ashina Castle and defeating Gyoubu Oniwa. At this point, you’ll be able to talk to Kuro, who gives you more details on what he needs to break the Dragon Heritage. You’ll then have a few options of where to go and explore in Sekiro.

Ashina Reservoir, Ashina Depths, Mibu Village

After beating Genichiro and talking to Kuro, you’ll learn that you need a stone for the incense, which can only be found in an area deep below the castle.

What you want to do here is head to Ashina Reservoir, which is located near the Ashina Castle Sculptor’s Idol. In this area, stick to the left and go to the underground well where you first began your journey in the game. Defeat the mini-boss, and keep following the path to eventually reach Ashina Depths.

You’ll also reach a large gateway with a long fall beneath you. Jump down to get further into the Depths, and this area will eventually lead you to Mibu Village, where you’ll obtain the Shelter Stone.

Sunken Valley, Gun Fort

After obtaining the Gun Fort Key from Kuro, you’ll want to head out the window from Kuro’s room in Ashina Castle. From the Castle Dojo Sculptor’s Idol, head down the stairs and jump down to the first floor. Instead of going out the door that leads to the stairs back to the Ashina Castle Sculptor’s Idol, turn around and head into the room with the chest. There’s another door here that leads you outside, and to the Old Grave Sculptor’s Idol. Head towards the back of the castle till you reach a bridge with two enemies you can eavesdrop on.

Keep following the path and you’ll eventually find a gate you can use the key on, allowing you to progress further. This path will take you to the Bodhisattva Valley, where you’ll obtain the white flower.

Senpou Temple in Sekiro

After defeating Genichiro, you’ll also be able to explore Senpou Temple, which is where you can unlock a new skill tree and get the Mortal Blade.

Head to the Abandoned Dungeon Entrance, which is also near the Ashina Castle Sculptor’s Idol. Make your way through the fairly linear dungeon and you’ll eventually emerge in Senpou Temple.

That’s all you need to know about where to go after beating Genichiro Ashina in Sekiro. Be sure to check our Sekiro guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
