Problem is, you can’t just crouch down and start breaking your way into one. Here’s how to picklock safes in Far Cry New Dawn and get that ‘Safekeeping’ trophy and achievement.
As mentioned above, you can’t just go ahead and begin picklocking safes in Far Cry New Dawn. In fact, they’ll be sealed tonight unless you gain access to one of two different perks.
How to Unlock the Lock Picking Perk
The perk we’re interested in getting to picklock safes in Far Cry New Dawn is the Lock Picking perk, as it enables you to pick locks on doors and safes. This means you’ll be able to get the ‘Safekeeping’ trophy and achievement, too.
To get this, you’ll need six Perk Points, which can be obtained by completing missions, challenges, or just by purchasing them with Square on PS4 or X on Xbox One from the Perks screen shown above.
Once you’ve got the required amount of Perk Points, simply press the touchpad on PS4 or the View button on Xbox One and navigate to the Perks tab. Now, select the Lock Picking perk, represented by a keychain of keys, and press and hold X on PS4 or A on Xbox One to acquire the perk.

Now that you’ve got the required perk, it’s simply a case of tracking down a safe in Far Cry New Dawn. These are generally scattered about, so you’ll stumble upon one as you begin exploring the open world and progressing through the game’s story.
Once you do, all you need to do is walk over to the safe and press and hold Square on PS4 or X on Xbox One while the on-screen prompt appears. Wait until the animation finishes and the door swings open and voila, you’ll have picklocked a safe in Far Cry New Dawn.
Shortly after this, you should then hear the familiar sound of a trophy or achievement unlocking, as the ‘Safekeeping’ trophy and achievement pops.
