We get a confirmation that the English version will come in early 2019, and we learn that the localization team has made “significant progress” over the past few months.

In order to give a taste of said progress, we also get quite a few screenshots, with a warning that they’re still work-in-progress.

If you’re unfamiliar with the franchise, it’s basically one of the most beloved visual novel series of all times developed by veteran Japanese studio âge. While western gamers just got Muv-Luv and Alternative so far, many more games have been released in Japan, creating an extremely deep and interesting sci-fi multiverse mixing beautiful girls, crazy high-quality mecha design, and tear-jerking stories.

Photonflowers is a collection of short visual novels that expand on that universe originally released in 2014 for PS3. It’s the perfect way to get a taste of just how deep and complex the Muv-Luv universe is.

If you want to get ready for the experience, Muv-Luv and its sequel Alternative are already available for PC via Steam and for PS Vita. You can also read my interview with series creator Kouki Yoshimune and aNCHOR boss Asahi Iwanaga.
