Today BioWare hosted a livestream about its upcoming online action RPG Anthem, focusing on loot and equipment.
During the broadcast Producer Darring McPherson and Lead Producer Ben Irving showcased some interesting gear that we’ll be able to enjoy in the game.
Interestingly, we learn that there won’t be any trading with other players. The team wants players to focus on what they can drop themselves. If you’re unable to drop something you really want,c but you can supplement drops with crafting and challenges.
First, we get to see a Colossus decked up with up to epic items. Following, we move on to a really high-end setup for a ranger with masterwork-level items.
If you give a level upgrade to masterwork items you get legendary level, which will be very hard to get.
Each item has a power level. Summing up all of those numbers will result in your gear score, which will indicate which missions you can tackle.
Interestingly, each piece of equipment has random inscriptions that can interact and stack with each other. You can’t reroll them, but you can craft the same items again to try and get inscriptions you like more.
After that, we get to see it in action in free play mode.
