Bandai Namco Announces One Piece: World Seeker for PC

Set sail for adventure!

Anime fans rejoice, Bandai Namco has officially announced a new upcoming game based on One Piece. While there isn’t much to go on quite yet, the company did provide a few details and screenshots via their Twitter. It appears as though the game will be celshaded in order to emulate the anime’s aesthetic.

The game is being developed by regular One Piece game developer Ganbarion and will be an open world game where players will play as series protagonist Luffy. The player will journey across a new, so far unnamed, island that is described as “expansive and seamless” and will also be built around using Luffy’s Gum-Gum Fruit abilities. As of right now it’s unclear how the game will, if at all, tie into the events of One Piece’s overarching storyline, though fans can expect franchise staples like adventuring in foreign lands and getting into battles with villainous marines and pirates.

For those unfamiliar, One Piece tells the story of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man with the ability to stretch his body like rubber, and his journey to become the King of the Pirates. To do so, he gathers a highly skilled crew and sets forth in search of adventure and the titular treasure which, upon discovering it, will make him the Pirate King. Along the way he explores dozens of creative and varied lands, battles other pirates, marines, warlords, tyrants, and even wannabe Gods; and just generally has a good time doing it.

For now, One Piece: World Seeker is due to release in 2018 with more information to come in the future.
