Destiny 2: How to Change Weapons

How to Change Weapons in Destiny 2

Recommended Videos

Destiny 2 has a lot of things going on, but it is primarily a first-person shooter. You grab your favorite weapon, you point it at an enemy (be they alien or fellow Guardian in the Crucible), and you pull the trigger. Of course, every Guardian worth their weight in Glimmer knows that you shouldn’t just bring one weapon. You have three slots, so fill them up. That way, when push comes to shove, you can change weapons on the fly. Here’s how you do that.

To change weapons in Destiny 2 you’ll be making use of the Triangle/Y button on your respective controller (mouse wheel and number keys on PC). Tapping the button will switch you between your kinetic and energy weapon slot (which used to be called primary and secondary). To switch to your power slot, Destiny 2’s major heavy hitters, you’ll need to hold the button down.

As far as switching weapons from the slots goes, you’ll need to actually go into your character menu to do that. You can carry 9 extra weapons of each type, and you change them by hovering over the one you want equipped and pressing X/A. Now when you hit Triangle/Y while playing, you’ll be able to change to the new weapon you just equipped. That’s all there is to it.
