Hironobu Sakaguchi is currently the CEO of Mistwalker Studios, although he’s probably best known as the creator of the Final Fantasy series. In an end of the year talk with Japanese site 4Gamer, Sakaguchi noted that he’d have something brand new to announce next year, stating “I plan to announce a new title in 2017. Stay tuned!”
It’s possible that this new title could be the announced collaboration (pictured above) between Mistwalker and the developer behind Bravely Default, Silicon Studios. Of course, it also could be a brand new title in production.
Since leaving Square in 2004 and founding Mistwalker the studio has produced multiple titles including Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and The Last Story. Recently both Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey became available via Xbox One Backward Compatibility, and Lost Odyssey is currently free to download.
