What’s New in Final Fantasy XV’s Royal Edition & Upgrade? Everything You Need to Know

New Dungeon and Bosses

Recommended Videos

The main new feature in the Royal Edition comes with the Royal Pack, in the form of brand new content added onto the game. Warning, there are minor spoilers ahead for the game simply discussing where the new content is added on, but there won’t be any story details.

The most enticing piece of content coming with the Royal Pack comes with an entirely new dungeon added onto the very end of the game, when you’re exploring Insomnia. The Insomnia City Ruins as the dungeon is called will apparently add about 2-3 more hours of gameplay to the end of the game, along with a few new bosses to take down. The first one that we’ve seen in trailers is Cerberus, who Nyx and Libertus faced off against in the Kingsglaive movie. You’ll also get the chance to face-off against a new mechanical menace named Omega and the Rulers of Yore, bosses with a direct tie to the Kingdom of Lucis. There aren’t just new bosses, however, as story cutscenes have also been added in to help flesh out the story surrounding them that little bit more.

Based on the trailer, we know that Cor Leonis makes an appearance in the new endgame content, but we don’t know if any other characters will be appearing. This means that there’s a big incentive for old fans of Final Fantasy XV to jump into the new content, not just newcomers. The chance to see the gang in action once again is certainly tempting.
