Where’d it go?
It looks like Nintendo’s official Pro controller for its upcoming Switch system has mysteriously disappeared off retailer websites today.
All of Nintendo’s suggested retailers for pre-ordering the Switch, its games, and accessories, all seem to have completely removed the listing for the Pro controller. Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop’s websites all show no sign of the Pro controller, meanwhile, the out of stock system remains listed as “Currently Unavailable” or “Out of Stock.” Searching for the Pro controller on these websites ends up simply bringing up the Wii U’s identically-named peripheral, or other Pro controllers for other systems. The issues only seems to have affected sites over in North America, with Amazon UK and other UK retailers, such as GAME, still listing the product as available.
This does raise questions over what status the product is currently in. After all, if pre-orders for the Switch’s Pro controller had already reached day-one allocation at all of these retailers, why was it not simply listed similarly to the system itself as “Out of Stock.” We’ve reached out to Amazon and GameStop for comment but have not received a response as of yet. We’ll update this post as and when the story develops.
If you’re looking to pick up one of the Pro controllers, you’ll have to keep an eye out on whether or not the retailers re-list it prior to the systems March 3 release date. However, for now, it’s not looking good if you were hoping to get one on release day. If you haven’t already pre-ordered, that is.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the story as it develops, so be sure to check back with Twinfinite for all your Nintendo Switch news.
