Last week, the world caught a glimpse of the newest starting lineup for the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon games. The internet was abuzz with talk of their favorites. The clear winner was Rowlet, a Grass/Flying owl Pokemon who can attack without making a sound, and turn its head around to face its trainer during battle.
The runner-up for most sought after Sun and Moon starter is Litten, a Fire cat pokemon who attacks with flaming hairballs.
Which leaves the Water-type starter, Popplio, a Sea Lion who travels better in water than on dry land, knows tricks, and shoot out water bubbles. Of all the starters, this clown-esque Water-type got the least love.
But any Pokemon fan will tell you, the starters are just the beginning. What comes next? Evolution of course. And while Game Freak has yet to reveal what other forms these starters will take, the internet has taken matters into their own hands and predicted for themselves.
Possible Rowlet Evolutions
Despite being the fan-favorite, Rowlet’s evolution mock-ups are all straightforward, never deviating much. But, birds are inherently cool, so no harm no foul.
Possible Litten Evolutions
Of all the possible predictions for the latest starters, Litten’s are the most consistent. While Litten is simply a Fire-type, based on character design, it appears that Litten may have the potential to develop a Fire/Dark dual-type making him a formidable Pokemon. Pumpkin Soup switches it up by introducing a Poison-inspired evolution which would add some much needed variation for the type.
Possible Popplio Evolutions
Popplio, despite garnering the least positive attention among Pokemon fans, has the most variation on his designs. Maybe it has something to do with the idea that people want Popplio to be anything besides a scary clown sea lion.
