Bethesda has revealed that it’s struggling to keep up with the incredibly high demand for the Pip-Boy collector’s edition of Fallout 4.

The Fallout 4 Pip-Boy edition was available for pre-order for $119.99 the day after it was revealed at Bethesda’s very first E3 conference this year. However the popularity of the collector’s edition seems to have taken Bethesda by surprise. The Pip-Boy edition is currently sold out in North America, and Pete Hines, Bethesda’s Marketing VP has told fans we shouldn’t be expecting any more to be made available to pre-order.

“We reached a point where we’d go back to the factories and they were like, ‘guys, this is it, sorry. This is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make… They’re being made today, it’s not like they’re done and sitting in a warehouse. [The factories would tell us,] this is what the yields say. I mean, we don’t make [the Pip-Boy Editions], and we’d go back to [the factories] and say, ‘Demand for this is insane, we’ve got to make more.’ And they’d move other projects off or shift stuff to other factories and it just came to [them telling Bethesda], ‘Final answer: sorry, this is as many as we can make.’ And we sold every single one of those that we could.” – Pete Hines told Gamespot

Pip-Boy edition

Hines believes that Bethesda have made more of the Pip-Boy special edition than it has of a limited edition for any one of their other games.

I’m sure following this news many fans will be hoping that Bethesda don’t run into the same problem that Rocksteady and Warner Bros. did with the Batmobile edition of Batman: Arkham Knight last month, which left many Bat-fans disappointed.
