Gears of War 4: How to Get XP and Level Up Fast

Pick the Right Game Modes to Level Up

One of the biggest ways to maximize the amount of XP you’re earning from the time you’re spending in Gears of War 4’s multiplayer is to make sure you’re playing the right game modes. Versus Multiplayer tends to yield a greater amount of XP than Horde 3.0, but even so, playing the right games in here will also see you increasing your XP gains by a ton.

Game modes which focus around an objective of some sort such as Escalation or King of the Hill will see you finishing a game with a far higher score than something like Team Deathmatch. Though your score won’t translate directly into XP, the higher your score, the more you’ll get. Therefore, you want to play smart and make the most of your time. It may not be your favorite game mode, but if you want to Re-Up, it’s what has to be done.

Think About Objectives to Level Up

Now that you’ve got yourself in the best game modes, it’s time to make use of them. Taking part in the capturing and breaking of objectives is the easiest way to rack up your score quickly in Gears of War 4, picking off kills as you go. Just because you’re in Escalation or King of the Hill doesn’t mean that just taking down your opponents will get you a higher score than it would in Team Deathmatch.

Capturing or breaking a ring in Escalation nets you 200 points, which works out at more than one kill. Combine that with the kills you’ll grab in the process of these objective-based matches, and you’ll end up with a huge score by the end of the match. This will then convert nicely into a healthy chunk of XP and level you on up.

Use Your Bounties to Level Up

You’ve got yourself into the right games, are sweeping up all those points from the objectives, and are seeing the progress. Now, it’s time to add bounties into the mix to keep the gains goin’.

Depending on the ones you have, Bounties in Gears of War 4 will give you a chunk of XP or Credits for completing additional objectives. These can be things as simple as Get 1000 Score in Dodgeball for an additional 2000 XP, or Get 5 Assists for a smaller 500 XP boost. While these Bounty cards are consumable, they won’t be consumed until you’ve accomplished the bounty. Therefore, you can always change to a different one without the risk of losing one if you just can’t quite accomplish what it’s requiring of you.

Using Bounty Cards is a great way to get additional XP and level up faster for simply playing Gears of War 4 as you normally would. And as you’ll be earning Credits as you play, you won’t feel forced into having to pay real money to get more of them.

Check Ribbons to Level Up

Though you don’t have to activate ribbons in order to get them, there is a neat trick for farming them for XP. When you see them pop during or at the end of a match, make a note of which ones are earning you the most XP. Then, look at what you had to do to earn them.

By working out which ribbons bring the highest XP reward, you can slowly but surely adjust the way you play to focus more on these ribbons. It’s also a good idea to keep checking your War Journal and seeing which ones you’re yet to achieve. Not only do you need to collect every ribbon from the launch series once for Seriously 4.0, but checking the requirements for those you don’t have could lead to you grabbing huge XP bonuses.
