Yakuza 0: How to Grab and Grapple Enemies

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Yakuza 0 lets you beat up some like-minded criminals around Tokyo’s tough streets. You’ll raise your fists up against tons of enemies, and you’ll be able to use a variety of different fighting styles to make them shut their mouths. Grappling or grabbing your enemies is a huge part of this.

In order to grab (or grapple, if you prefer) your combatants, you’ll first need to make sure you’re in the appropriate stances that let you do this. Then, simply press circle. You can then attack them using square and triangle to keep a combo going, or you can knock them down by pressing circle again. This is also the easiest way for you to pull off the Heat Actions for some of the stances (Brawler, for example), and it’s done by pressing circle and hitting Triangle once your blue Heat meter is full. This will automatically knock them down and do a ton of damage, as well as deplete your meter.

You’ll be able to mix up your fights a lot more if you utilize grabbing correctly. It can get pretty boring to just mash on square or triangle, after all.
