Every publisher has a series that people are dying to hear more about at every event. For Ubisoft, that series is easily Splinter Cell.

A stealth series that garnered wide acclaim during its run in the early 2000s, the adventures of Sam Fisher have remained beloved through the years. And yet, there hasn’t been a proper release for the franchise since Blacklist in 2013. The most fans have seen of Sam Fisher is a cameo or two in other Ubisoft series and properties which – while fitting – have left fans clamoring for a real comeback.

With another year down and still no signs of a modern Splinter Cell game, we’ve been left wondering: Will the series ever get another installment, or is it being left behind for more lucrative franchises?
