Of course, now the franchise has breached the open world space, gamers want to know exactly where it registers on the scale in comparison to benchmark franchise such as the Elder Scrolls and The Witcher.

Well, Breath of the Wild might not be the biggest open world game but it is certainly no slouch, either.

Reddit user CrystalVivian recorded , Breath of the Wild is 7.7 miles measured diagonally and clocks in at 28.9 mile². The measurement was recorded via the flying minigame.

The measurement does not include the very boundary of the rendered open world map, which is not playable.
