The Best 5 Games to Look Forward to in October 2018
Super Mario Party (Release Date: Oct. 5)
It’s easy to pass the Mario Party series off as a cash grab for Nintendo, and those that do aren’t entirely wrong. A hodgepodge of different mini games thrown at the player in the guise of a board game featuring mainstays in the Mario franchise, it does have the feeling of something that wouldn’t exist without its fan appeal. And yet, to do so would deny the fun it can bring when you have a group of people to play with. Playing through the strange array of mini games as your favorite character from the Mario universe, and spending time with friends, arguing about who lucked out more with their roles, is a blast, and a simple multiplayer experience like it is a welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch.
That’s to say nothing of Super Mario Party’s biggest new addition. Just in time for the launch of Nintendo’s full online functionality support, the game will allow players to infuriate each other online for the first time in the series. The options for irritating each other have been expanded exponentially as a result, and if you need a game to bring you and your friends together this fall, few could do a better job than this party game.
