The NieR Series Is Getting an Orchestral Arrangement Album this September

Love or hate the games, there’s no denying that the music and sound design in both NieR titles are stellar. Composed by Keiichi Okabe and the team at MONACA, the soundtrack is absolutely essential in setting the tone in the games, and they’re often cited as some of the best music we’ve ever heard in video games.

To celebrate that, Square Enix is releasing orchestral arrangement albums for NieR Gestalt/Replicant and NieR: Automata this year. Both albums will be supervised by Okabe himself, and they’re set to go on sale on Sept. 12. The Gestalt/Replicant and Automata albums can be bought separately or together in a special box set. Square Enix has previously released piano collections for the games, but this would be the first time the soundtrack has gotten the live orchestra treatment, which is pretty neat.

NieR: Automata recently topped three million copies sold, and with the game receiving such commercial and critical success, there’s hope yet for a HD port or remaster of the original game. Automata is now available on PS4 and PC.
