Sword Art Online: Lost Song is one serious RPG. Based off of the Alfheim Online virtual MMO of the anime, it has lots of leveling, grinding, collecting, and upgrading that is necessary for players to grow in power so that they’ll have a chance of defeating the many dungeons scattered through its world.

Leveling up is so much more than just obtaining experience. Sure, that will increase your character’s level, but that won’t necessarily make you powerful. Don’t worry, though, we’ve broken down all of the types of leveling up you’ll need to do.

Increase Your Character’s Level

This is by far the easiest aspect of leveling up. Pretty much all combat will contribute to your overall level. This increases your health, stamina, and mana. Leveling up your character will also unlock certain new Combat, Passive, Battle, and Magic Skills.

The easiest way to earn a lot of experience fast is to head into the nearest dungeon and farm the enemies in there. If you’re new to the area, they will always be a few levels higher than you which in turn yields you more XP for your work.

Keep in mind that focusing on your character’s level only unlocks more skills for you to use, but doesn’t make you more powerful. This leveling up aspect will happen naturally as long as you keep fighting.

Combat Skills

Each character can use certain types of specific weapons in Sword Art Online: Lost Song. For instance, Kirito can use Dual Blades, a single One-Handed Sword, or a Two-Handed Sword. Using either of these types will level your skill with them up making them more powerful. It’s best to try and pick one or two types early so you can level them up quickly. Each will start at Skill Level 100, granting you two abilities.

These abilities will only level up if you do damage with them. Since they require mana, you’ll want to only use them on groups of enemies or really powerful enemies. Do not waste them on single weak enemies. Luckily, the open area of each island has tons of grouped up enemies making this much easier than if you were in a dungeon. So jump into the fray and let it rip.

Magic Skills

These are a bit harder to use in Sword Art Online: Lost Song but can make a big difference in combat. You’ll have many options to choose from, but as with all abilities in the game, you’ll only gain experience for those you use. If you want to level up quickly, you’ll have to make a difficult choice. Limit yourself to only two or three Magic Skills so that you don’t spread out the experience too thinly.

Each skill grows more potent with use, adding more recovery to the player, longer de-buff times to the enemy, and increased damage. Only you know how you’ll want to play the game, so pick skills that fit into that and use only those. Also keep in mind that using magic takes away from time you could use to earn Combat Experience. If you want to be more weapon-based, then limit yourself to even less Magic Skills to make leveling up easier.

Leveling Up Party Members

Party Members will fight on their own with minimal interference in Sword Art Online: Lost Song. You can call out certain formations or even have them fall back if need be, but for the most part, they’ll take care of themselves. The only thing you’ll need to pay attention to if you want them to level up quickly is their equipped skill set.

Like you, their skills and abilities only level up if they are used. Your companions will use every single attack in their repertoire if left alone, meaning it will take quite a bit longer to get certain skills up to where you’d like them to be. You’ll get a notification on the left-hand side of the screen whenever a party member levels up or learns a new ability. Go right into the Character menu from the pause screen and assign what you want while eliminating everything else. This will both tailor your companions to your liking, as well as speed up the level up process for the skills that matter most.

With these few tips, you’ll find yourself getting stronger in no time. Remember, the key to leveling up quickly is refining your focus to the things that matter most in Sword Art Online: Lost Song.
