How to Get Artifacts and What They Do in South Park: The Fractured But Whole
South Park: The Fractured But Whole features a brand new combat system that is more similar to tactical role-playing games like Final Fantasy Tactics than the traditional RPG games such as the Stick of Truth. It also uses a equipment system that stresses the importance of your item’s strength (known as Might) over individual character level.
Artifacts are your primary source of increasing your Might in South Park: The Fractured But Whole. The higher your Might is, the more likely you’ll be able to handle the various challenges thrown your way in the game.
You get artifacts in a variety of different ways in The Fractured But Whole. You’ll often get them as a reward from main story missions. These are normally very powerful and can quickly replace something you had on previously. Buying artifacts is also an option. Many of the vendors around town will sell artifacts ranging from $20-$40 dollars. It’s a little pricey, especially early on, but if you need a boost, it’s one way to get a quick one if you need it that badly and you’re flush with cash.
Artifacts can also be crafted. You’ll gain recipes for new artifacts by searching around South Park and/or completing objectives. If you have all of the necessary components, you can create your own artifacts to equip. Finally, artifacts can also just be found by exploring. They can be found in the yellow Coon and Friends (CAF) boxes found around town. However, you’ll often need a special ability such as a Buddy Power or Time Fart to access them.
New artifact slots are gained by leveling up. So make sure you’re not neglecting your character level otherwise you’ll have a bunch of strong artifacts but no where to equip them.
