Announced at tonight’s Sony E3 Press Conference, it appears that Shadow of the Colossus is getting a remake for the PS4.

The trailer showcased Wander’s battle against several of the game’s beautiful colossi. The game’s visuals have been updated dramatically, especially when compared to the HD remaster released on PS3. Very little was revealed in the trailer, but the visuals are breathtaking and realize the PS2 classic’s artistry in a new way.

Originally released in 2005 for PS2 and developed by Team ICO with Fumito Ueda as director, the game became an instant classic. While we still don’t know if this is simply a graphical remake or an updated version of the title with extra content, we’re still happy that we can once again embark on this epic adventure.

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus were both rereleased on PS3 but the graphical improvements were nothing to gawk at. With the release of The Last Guardian – the most recent game by Team ICO, or what remains of it – last year, hopefully we can also see ICO reimagined for current hardware.

The game is set to release sometime in 2018. For more information on the title as it becomes available, stay tuned to Twinfinite.net.
