How to Get a Shotgun – Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

As is usually the case in games that have you blowing off the faces of zombies, aliens, and other mutant critters, the Shotgun is one of the best weapons you can get in Resident Evil 7. It doesn’t carry much ammo, and finding extra shots out in the wild is rare, but it packs a hell of a wallop. There are actually two different Shotguns you can find in Resident Evil 7, and we’re gonna tell you how to get both.

The first is the M37, and you can see it once you reach the main hall as it’s held by a statue between the two flights of stairs. Removing it causes the small room to go on lock down, so you can’t just take it out. First head on down to the basement of the house, where you’ll find the Scorpion Key in the Processing Area inside of some rotting meat. Now take that key and head back to the main hall, heading upstairs. Go to the Recreation Room, and from there you’ll be able to enter Grandma’s Room using the newly acquired Scorpion Key.  Inside that room you’ll find a Broken Shotgun. Take it down to the statue and trade it for a working M37.

That Broken Shotgun can be repaired later on to become the M21. You’ll need two things, a Model Shotgun (which you’ll find in the Kid’s Room after obtaining the Snake Key), and a Repair Kit which you can obtain in the Testing Area. First, collect the treasure photo from the stairs leading up to the greenhouse (which you should have cleared by now). Next, follow the story to collect the two keycards to open up Lucas’ area of the map. You’ll find the Repair Kit on the upper right hand corner of the second Floor.

Swap out the Model Shotgun for the Broken Shotgun at the statue, then use the Repair Kit, and voila! You have a M21 Shotgun, which is a stronger version that will help you blow off some faces in Resident Evil 7.
