If you’ve been doing a spot of shopping in Persona 5, you may have stumbled upon the Black Kotagana. While you may be able to get this item fairly cheap, that doesn’t mean that it’s an insignificant item. In fact, the reality is quite the opposite.

The Black Kotagana in Persona 5 basically allows you to break a Persona down into an item in the Velvet Room. It’s worth noting that you won’t be able to use this item from the very get-go. Instead, you’ll need to unlock the required skill as part of Persona 5’s story.

Once you’ve got the skill and this item, simply make your way to the Velvet Room and select the option to fuse Personas as you normally would. Select the Persona and the Kotagana and then you’ll be shown the item that you’ll gain from breaking it down. It’ll always be a melee weapon, so if you’re looking for something to give you a bit of additional firepower, using the Black Kotagana is definitely worth checking out.

If you’re looking for the equivalent item for ranged weapons, you’ll want to look for the Gun Model from the store down the alley on Central Street in Persona 5.
