Most Promising New Games Shown at Gamescom 2018
The Dark Pictures Anthology
Until Dawn developer, Supermassive Games has a new horror game in the works, titled The Dark Pictures Anthology. Interestingly, as the title suggests, it will be a compilation or anthology of smaller stories that will release separately. The first one, Man of Medan will launch in 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This story appears to play like Until Dawn, wherein you can choose different branching paths that result in various consequences. Man of Medan takes place on a boat with four playable characters in a massively repayable story. There are more branching paths in Man of Medan than any other game Supermassive catalog.
What’s intriguing is that there are, apparently, 39 different horror sub-genres that Supermassive Games would love to represent. Whether that will play out remains to be seen, but the idea of 39 short experiences in one giant package raises a ton of questions, so we will have to wait and see. Until Dawn is a fan-favorite, which is why we’re so excited for The Dark Pictures Anthology.
