Instead of gambling on packs, if you’re serious about long term success and securing a consistent source of Stubs in MLB The Show 16, study the community market board. It may seem intimidating at first because there are pages upon pages of cards to sort through. However, the filters work very well and will be your faithful companion in your goal to learning how the market works.

When you log in to play, consistently take a look at the Community Market Board and pay close attention to it while making notes of the prices of cards you have to sell and the cards you’re looking to purchase. Finding out how much your cards are worth on the market is important because, like in real life, your possession are part of your net-worth. So even if you don’t have a lot of Stubs, if you have some cards to sell, you’re also worth as much as those cards are worth. Also, have a firm grasp on what the cards your aiming for are worth is useful for identifying when that card is for sale at a good deal.

In addition to knowing what you’re worth and studying the cards you want, also pay attention to trends on the market that you can take advantage of, even if it’s for cards you don’t need. For example, try using a filter to find players within the 80-99 skill range. These are going to be your higher priced players. What you’ll notice is that the more well-known players are going to be worth more than those that aren’t as popular. Sometimes players will have nearly identical skills, but one card will be worth a lot more because that player is more popular and sought after.

Be savvy. Fill your Diamond Dynasty squad with some lesser known players with similar skills, and sell the popular players for a profit. If you happen to land a super rare card of a popular player, although it might be tough, the move for the greater good might be to sell it and use that money to fill multiple holes in your lineup and pitching rotation instead of hanging on to it.

Only hang on to overpriced cards if it’s something you really need. For example, a Diamond Dynasty player that you know you play really well with in-game over other players. At the end of the day, that is the end game to getting all these stubs; putting together a good DD team or enhancing your experience in Franchise and RTTS.

Also, another quick tip, people sometimes also just buy cards just to complete collections. These cards will sell more often and sometimes for more Stubs than cards that aren’t part of collections. Same idea, use that knowledge to your advantage to turn a profit.

If you study the market board consistently, you’ll learn what are good and bad deals on cards, consistent trends to take advantage of, and how to turn a long term profit.
