Mass Effect Andromeda: Should You Build a Scientific or Military Outpost?

First major decision?

A Scientific or Military Outpost in Mass Effect Andromeda

Recommended Videos

When you establish your first outpost on Eos in Mass Effect Andromeda, you’ll be given a decision to make. You can establish either a military outpost on the planet, or a scientific one to help with research and new discoveries. Cora will push for a military outpost, making the argument that research is no use if the scientists can’t defend themselves. On the other hand, Liam posits that a scientific outpost will allow us to learn more about the land and build a foundation for a new home, which is the whole point of the Andromeda Initiative in the first place.

From what we can tell, there’s no major difference in choosing one over the other. After you’ve made your choice, you can go back to the Nexus to wake up a few cryo pods, and the Krogan and Turian leaders will express their own opinions on your decision. A small, controlled protest will take place for the side you didn’t choose, but you can make the inhabitants see reason. Simply put, there aren’t any major consequences for this decision, though we’ll be sure to keep you updated as more info comes our way.
