Mass Effect Andromeda: How to Solve Remnant Decryption Puzzles

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Mass Effect: Andromeda has some Sudoku in it! After a certain point in the game, you will come across some Remnant puzzle. You need to solve, or decrypt, it in order to continue on. It might seem like mumbo jumbo as it’s just a bunch of glyphs in squares, but it’s actually just like a game of Sudoku.

What you need to do is hover over any blank squares. Then, you need to look at the column and the row that square is on. Next, you will cycle through the different glyphs you can plug in. Once you’ve found a glyph that is not in that row or column, you’re good to hover over another blank space and do the exact thing. Check the glyphs you can’t choose and cycle on through to the one that will cause that row and column to be completely filled with unique patterns.

Make sure that there are no repeats, or once you turn in your answer to the puzzle, you’ll have to face a large group of Remnants. It’s a lot easier than it seems, trust us! Just don’t let any repeats at all happen in any row or column. Every possible line, be it vertical or horizontal, needs to be unique.
