Is Nioh Coming to PC?
Update: It was today announced that Nioh will be coming to PC in the form of a Complete Edition. It’ll feature all three of the expansions, and will release on Steam on Nov. 7.
Nioh is one of PlayStation’s most anticipated games of 2017. The game follows protagonist William Adams, a Western samurai taking on supernatural threats in a fictionalized 1600s Sengoku period. Its gameplay focuses on strategic action, utilizing unique weapons like katanas.
Its challenging gameplay and samurai themes have players intrigued, especially after a couple of successful demos, and many can’t help but wonder if the game will come to PC. Fans have even launched a petition asking developer Team Ninja for a PC port, including this argument:
“Earlier this year Capcom released Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on Steam, it was reported to be Capcom’s fastest selling PC title to date, with over 400,000 owners according to SteamSpy. Before that, Valkyria Chronicles was released late in 2014, it’s sales have ‘blown all predictions out of the water’ said publisher Sega, and has just shy of 875,000 owners.”
“Most importantly, it took a petition to bring Dark Souls to PC back in 2012, which has sold over two and a half million copies on PC, with all 3 collectively selling over five million copies. It was reported that 40% of the Souls series total sales were on PC.”
Despite these efforts, it seems Team Ninja is not on board for a PC version of Nioh. Game Director Fumihiko Yasuda said in a recent interview, “We currently do not have any plans to release Nioh for PC.”
So if you’re hoping for Nioh on PC, we don’t have any good news for you. It seems that when Nioh releases on Feb. 7, the only way to play will be on PlayStation 4.
