How to Beat Sawtooths Easily – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

Sawtooths are one of the first machines you’ll encounter in Horizon Zero Dawn, but that doesn’t make them any less intimidating. If you’re not prepared or don’t know the best ways to take them down, it’s highly likely that Aloy will come to an untimely demise at the metallic claws of the creatures.

The main thing you need to remember when taking on a Sawtooth is that they’re weak to fire. This is something Rost teaches you in Horizon Zero Dawn’s tutorial. While barraging Sawtooths with fire arrows is all well and good, there’s an even faster way you can take them down.

This method will require you to have excellent aim with your bow, so we advise you use Concentration by pressing R3 when aiming to zoom in and slow down time. All Sawtooths have a Blaze Canister attached to their undercarriage, which is highly flammable. If you can land a fire arrow on this Blaze Canister, the Sawtooth will suffer a huge amount of damage and will continue to suffer from burn damage.

While all Sawtooths have this Canister, it’s worth noting that you shouldn’t be up close to one when you’re attempting to detonate it. If you are, you’ll suffer some serious damage from the explosion.

That’s all you need to know to beat Sawtooths easily in Horizon Zero Dawn. For more tips, guide, and information, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
