How to Change Items – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

When engaging with the machines in Horizon Zero Dawn, Aloy doesn’t just have her standard weapons at her disposal. She also has a bunch of different items and abilities that she can use to her advantage. Unfortunately, you cannot assign these to set buttons on your controller, but there is a way you can quickly and easily change items.

To change items in Horizon Zero Dawn, you’ll be using the dpad. While you’ll use an item by pressing down on the d-pad, you’ll be able to flick through all of the different items and abilities by using left and right on the d-pad. Once you’ve found the item you want to use, you should see its symbol assigned to down on the d-pad in the bottom left corner of the screen. All consumable items such as rocks, potions, and traps will be available to select here, so you don’t have to worry about jumping into the menu to add them to this hotlist.

That’s all there is to using and changing items in Horizon Zero Dawn. For more tips, tricks, and guides for the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
