How to Beat Corruptors Easily – Horizon Zero Dawn

Corruptors can be a real pain in the neck in Horizon Zero Dawn. Not only are they pretty powerful, they’ll also turn normal machines into corrupted variants. These versions are stronger and can take significantly more damage than before, so to avoid that headache, here’s how to beat corruptors easily.

The first thing you’ll want to do is press R3 to use your focus. This should highlight the weak spots on corruptors. Obviously, this is where you’ll be focusing much of your attention. Bombard these weak spots (the shoulder-mounted launchers) with your normal arrows to quickly whittle away at its health. Alternatively, you can use your Tripcaster to shock and stun it, leaving you with an opportunity to score a critical hit and deal out some serious damage.

While dealing damage is relatively straightforward with a corruptor, it’s not taking it that can be tricky, especially in your first encounter with one where it’s referred to as a ‘demon.’

What you’ll want to do is keep your distance from corruptors. If it gets too close to you, its melee attacks can drain your health gauge. When you see corruptors bending their legs, it’s about to take off and try and land an aerial attack on you. Press Circle to quickly roll out of the attack’s damage radius. Also, it’s worth noting that you should ignore any other adds that may be in the area with you until the corruptor is down. These are far easier to take care of when the corruptor isn’t bombarding you with spikes and grenades.
