Epic Games has just released the patch notes for Fortnite Battle Royale’s upcoming 2.4.2 update, revealing the crossbow as the silent weapon the developer has been teasing for quite some time now.
The crossbow will arrive as part of the update due to go live tomorrow, Feb. 8. It, as you may have guessed, will fire arrows, which is an unlimited ammo type that’ll make the crossbow an incredibly useful weapon to have at your disposal when you’re running low on rounds. It can be found both lying on the floor and from treasure chests, and comes in both Rare and Epic variants.
Alongside the addition of the crossbow, update 2.4.2 makes a number of tweaks to existing weapons, and fixes a bunch of bugs. Shotgun headshot damaged has been raised to 200% from 150%, meanwhile the Scoped Assault Rifle is buffed to be 100% accurate when zoomed in, and no longer suffers from damage fall-off.
For any fans of the Shooting Test #1 Limited-Time mode currently available in Fortnite Battle Royale, there is a slight limitation introduced in the upcoming patch. You’ll no longer be able to play the mode in Duo or Squads mode, so if you want to check out the new changes to combat, you’ll need to head to the battle bus on your own.
The crossbow and the rest of the update’s changes are scheduled to roll out in Fortnite Battle Royale on Feb. 8.
