How to Beat the Captain Basch Minigame in Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age
Bhujerba is the second huge city you’ll visit in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, and you’ll reach it by airship after a few hours into the game. When you reach the city, the party needs to figure out a way to gain an audience with Marquis Ondore, and Vaan has the brilliant idea of pretending to be the long thought dead Captain Basch of Dalmasca, who of course is not actually dead. At this point Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age has you travel around the city exclaiming to the citizens that you’re Captain Basch and not to believe Ondore’s lies.
There’s a meter that you’ll need to fill all the way up to 100 percent in order to advance the story, and there’s three different types of citizens that affect the bar in different ways. First off are the general citizens just walking or standing on the roads. You’ll only want to remark to the citizens with talk bubbles above their heads, and each one will only give you a few percentage points on the bar.
Next are guides, these are specialists staffed around the city that help guide people. These characters are easy to spot as they’re wearing triangular hats and holding some kind of book or binder. These are the citizens you’ll really want to talk to as they’ll boost your meter by nearly thirty percent. Finally, keep an eye out for the guards as saying things around them will reduce your meter. Guards are easy to spot as they’re the only ones wearing helmets and swords. Just make your way around the city looking out for guides especially and you’ll have filled the meter in no time.
