How to Get Shaders in Destiny 2

Recommended Videos

If you’re wanting to really personalize the way your Guardian and gear look in Destiny 2, then Shaders are what you’re gonna want. These items are now consumables in Destiny 2, however, meaning that once you’ve applied them to a piece of gear, they’re gone forever and cannot be removed. As such, you’ll want to know how to get Shaders as fast and as easily as possible in Destiny 2.

Unfortunately, these are pretty mostly an end game item, though you can get some before finishing the story. You’ll unlock them via Bright Engrams that can be earned by filling up your level progress bar after reaching level 20, or as random rewards during the story. These Bright Engrams can also be purchased with Silver, the game’s microtransaction currency. It’s worth noting that Shaders aren’t the only thing you can get in Bright Engrams, though they are fairly common.

You may also get Shaders from completing challenges when out exploring the game’s different worlds, or from leveling up the various different vendors located around the galaxy. Again, they aren’t always a guaranteed drop, but we’ve found that during the end game we got a fair few of them from simply playing and grinding up our Power level.
