Spend Time in Headquarters

CoD WW2 Firing Range

With Sledgehammer Games bringing the series back to its boots on the ground combat, Call of Duty: WWII fans will have to readjust to slower paced gameplay. In addition, there a few new features and changes to CoD WW2’s multiplayer aspect, and it might feel overwhelming at first if you haven’t played Call of Duty in a long while or you’re a series newcomer. If you simply hop into multiplayer without properly understanding these new features, you won’t even get to maximize your earnings.

Firstly, it’s best to familiarize yourself with the Headquarters social hub of CoD WW2, as you can earn experience points, experience point bonuses, Supply Drops, and cosmetic items in this area. You can also jump into Headquarters while waiting for a match to start, giving you enough time to test out your guns in the firing range or talk to a few task givers in the area.

Whenever you get to Headquarters, make sure you check your mail and collect your 100 Armory credits every four hours. Armory credits are used to purchase weapons, uniforms, call cards, and other cosmetic items from the Quartermaster. Additionally, you can purchase time-limited contracts from the Quartermaster, which earns you either experience point rewards or Supply Drops after completion. It is not advisable to spend all your Armory credits on contracts, however, as they are a bit too expensive.

Unlike the costly contracts from the Quartermaster, the daily and weekly orders from Major Howard won’t cost you a dime, and aside from being easier to pull off, you’ll get similar rewards from the Quartermaster’s contracts. Take note that you can only have three orders at a time from Major Howard, so make sure you always select the challenges based on the multiplayer game modes you’re currently playing. If you complete enough daily and weekly orders, you can even earn a nice reward.

Choose Divisions Based on the Abilities

CoD WW2 Divisions

CoD WW2 emphasizes that certain Divisions specialize in particular weapon types, leaving an impression that you should strictly use weapons that each Division specializes in, such as SMGs for Airborne and Shotguns for Expeditionary. While you won’t maximize the abilities in each Division if you don’t equip the weapon best suited for it, you can still take advantage of each Division’s abilities. For example, you can have a fast-moving Airborne Division character who wields a semi-automatic rifle that’s equipped with a silencer. If you want, you can even have a sniper-wielding Expeditionary soldier who can throw lethal grenades as well as smoke grenades.

Basic Training Abilities Are Invaluable

CoD WW2 Basic Training Perks

Don’t neglect the Basic Training perks you have in your loadout as they can hugely benefit you in most one on one encounters. One of the best examples for this is the Primed perk, which allows you to attach another weapon mod and reduce flinching when you get hit. This means that you have a high chance of winning the matchup if you can land the first bullet on the enemy. Some perks can even help your whole team, such as Espionage, which displays enemies you damage on the mini-map for all teammates.

Listen to Enemy Callouts

You can always chat with your teammates to inform them about enemy locations and other strategies. Aside from this, each soldier in your team will usually provide war banter in a bid to make the match more immersive. If you listen more closely, however, you’ll notice that they also call out enemy locations from time to time. For example, if you’re playing in the Ardennes Forest map, you can hear fellow soldiers saying that there’s an enemy in the bunker or near the canal. Because of this, if you’re familiar with the map layout, you can quickly kill enemies in that area and prevent yourself from being shot from behind.

Don’t Mindlessly Run and Gun

Call of Duty: WW2 Squad

Sprinting from one area to another hoping that you’re the one who pulls the trigger first when you encounter an enemy isn’t a good way to rack up the kills in CoD WW2 multiplayer. Unlike the fast-paced futuristic entries in which you can quickly run and gun, CoD WW2 favors players who are familiar with the map design or those who know when to crouch or lay down in anticipation of an enemy.

Making split-second decisions on which direction you should face and whether you should proceed to one area to another or wait for an enemy to pass through should be your biggest concern in the game. Additionally, staying long enough in one spot is inadvisable as enemies can approach you from your backside and they will flush you out of the area with sniper fire or grenades.

Kill/Death Ratio Doesn’t Matter in War

CoD WW2 WAR

Regardless of how many enemies you kill in the War game mode, your team will lose if no one participates in completing the objectives. Apparently, Sledgehammer Games completely removed the Kill/Death Ratio (KDR) in this game mode to encourage players to play the objective, but it might not be obvious at first. There are even no Scorestreaks in War, thus incentivizing players to risk their lives for the benefit of the team. Because of this, there’s no reason for you to refrain from playing the objective.

Get the Right Mods for Each Gun

CoD WW2 Mods

You might be tempted to simply equip certain gun modifications that increase the stat of your weapons. However, there’s always an optimal gun mod for each weapon and play style. For example, if you favor using the automatic rifle BAR at close range, you can equip it with a rapid firing mod and a magazine extender to offset its low magazine per clip. On its own, however, the BAR is great at short to mid-range combat, but you can make it better for fighting in long-range by equipping the right scope and equipping a mod that reduces fall off damage.

Take note that you can only earn more gun modifications for each weapon in CoD WW2 by leveling the firearm. You can level up weapons simply by killing enough enemies with it.

EXP and Leveling Fast

Leveling your character is important if you want to unlock more Basic Training perks and weapons. One of the ways you can level up faster is by equipping weapon variants that have a 10% bonus modifier per each kill. Another way to earn experience points is by completing objectives from Major Howard and the Quartermaster.

Aside from leveling your character, you should also keep an eye out on the level of each firearm and your Division levels. You will unlock more weapon modifications once you level your gun. Meanwhile, leveling Divisions will unlock more useful passive and active abilities, such as equipping a Bayonet for Infantry or a suppressor for Airborne and reloading faster for the Armored Division.
