If you’re looking for an excuse to pal around with your friends in some new video games, E3 2019 might have you covered. There were a handful of cooperative multiplayer games announced during this year’s conferences – here are some of the ones we’re looking forward to the most.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
This year’s iteration in the Animal Crossing franchise, New Horizons, will be the first on a home console since 2008’s City Folk for the Wii. It also happens to be the first in the main-line franchise to support couch co-op multiplayer.
At E3, we got to see a good chunk of gameplay from New Horizons in Nintendo’s Treehouse Livestream, including ten or so minutes of multiplayer. In the livestream, two of the developers wandered across New Horizons’ island together, chopping down trees and collecting apples.
Up to four people will be able to play on a single system, but wireless and online play will support up to eight. The charm of the Animal Crossing series is undeniable, and sharing that experience with a friend (or many) is something that we can’t wait to try.
