Following in a long line of Mario tennis games dating all the way back to 1995, Mario Tennis Aces released last month onto the Nintendo Switch with considerable praise.
There’s tons of ways to play Mario Tennis Aces with friends, whether it be local or online. After mastering the skills in Adventure Mode, you can play alongside up to three friends in single or doubles matches. Whether it’s one Nintendo Switch console or four, you can test out the various different types of controller combinations to play how you please.
For online multiplayer, you can play against others in simple matches or in tournaments. Do well in the tournaments and you can unlock new characters such as Koopa Troopa or Blooper as you rise in the ranks.
Mario Tennis Aces also brings new controls to the Mario Tennis genre, such as the Zone Shot that allows you to use the Switch’s motion controls to pinpoint where you want the ball to go, Zone Speed that makes the world around you slow down so you can hit those hard to reach shots, and finally the Special Shot that allows your character to unleash a massive hit that uses your entire energy gauge but can destroy an enemy racket in one hit.
