3) Dead Cells – Average Metacritic Score: 89

Dead Cells been praised across the board for its seamless melding of roguelike and metroidvania elements. The compelling die, improve, try again loop that we’ve come to know from roguelikes both old and new is complemented perfectly by wonderfully satisfying combat and traversal. The combat is deep, challenging, and requires tactical thought as well as quick reactions, while the movement is forgiving enough that you’ll soon be racing through stages, swiping at enemies as you go. It’s one of the best examples of the genre in recent memory and it’s very difficult to put down. Dead Cells is great everywhere, but the “just one more run” feeling is more pronounced on the go with the Switch version.
