Most Beautiful Games of October 2018
The World Ends With You: Final Remix
While it might not be running on the newest and shiniest graphical engine around, The World Ends With You: Final Remix comes with a very distinct and unique graphical style that makes it charming and timeless. Released on the Switch just this past month, The World Ends With You plays out on what is basically a 2D plane where you’ll drag your character around to explore Shibuya and get into fast-paced fights.
The World Ends With You’s design and graphical style is very cartoonish, but it’s colorful and extremely vibrant. The game does a great job of portraying the stylish street life of Shibuya’s youth, and even the animations are smooth and sleek as hell. The game’s idle animations have pep to spare as well, as Neku would swiftly put his headphones on and start tapping his foot to the beat of the music.
And that’s not all; The World Ends With You also comes packed with an infectiously catchy soundtrack —a nice blend between J-Pop and light rap. While the Switch port does suffer from a fair few issues, there’s no denying that this still holds up as one of the most beautiful games when it comes to art style.
