The first PixelJunk Monsters game, which is now more than ten years old, is one of the best tower defense games of all time. The sequel, that released last month, brings the series into the modern age with 3D visuals. It makes a few changes that are a little too far of a departure from what made the original great, but it’s still a good game. Although the idea of tower defense may be a bit complex for very young gamers, Monsters 2 is quite straightforward and not too challenging on the lower difficulties. It requires thought, planning, and quick reactions, but the world is colorful and charming enough that kids will likely enjoy their time with it.
