I know, I know. Metal Gear Online’s starting screen states that the Infiltrator class should only be used by advanced players, but take my word for it, anyone can take full advantage of this class as long as you become familiar with your strengths and weaknesses.
The Infiltrator is all about utilizing stealth tactics, CQC, and Fultoning enemies out of the field. If you loved playing MGS V with stealth, you’re going to love the Infiltrator class. Read on for some tips on how to make the most out of your Infiltrator.
Abuse Stealth Camo
Once you hit level 2, you immediately unlock the Suppressed loadout. This equips you with a suppressed submachine gun and the Stealth Camo item. Luckily, the battery on the Stealth Camo recharges extra fast with this loadout, meaning you’ll only have to wait about 20 seconds before you can go invisible again.
It’s a little crazy that this loadout unlocks so early in the Infiltrator progression tree, considering how useful it is in all of Metal Gear Online’s game modes. While it may not be of much use to an attacker in Cloak and Dagger, it is invaluable if you’re a defender. A good strategy is to camp out near the disc locations, activate your Stealth Camo, and keep a keen eye out for the attackers. You’ll have the clear advantage here, as you’ll be equipped with a much faster lethal weapon than the attackers’ tranquilizer pistols.
And if you hate using non-lethal weapons, you can always equip your shotgun, activate the Stealth Camo, and score a quick one-hit kill on your enemies from behind. But where’s the fun in that?
Go Slow
Yeah, Stealth Camo’s great, but it doesn’t make you 100% invisible. Sharp-eyed enemies will still be able to see your outline on the field if they look hard enough. When you’re invisible, you’ll want to move slowly so that you won’t show up on the enemy’s radar. The entire point of using the Stealth Camo is to be able to sneak up on unsuspecting enemies, after all.
If you keep your head down, and move in slowly but surely, you’ll find that your enemies will be none the wiser, and you’ll be able to choke them out from behind.
Interrogations and the Fulton Recovery System
As an Infiltrator, you’re the most well-equipped out of all three available classes to pull off interrogations and Fulton your enemies out of the field. As your Infiltrator continues to level up, you’ll also unlock perks like CQC Stealth and Interrogation. These allow you to choke out enemies quickly, and interrogate them at a much faster rate, reducing the risk of you getting shot while trying to extract info from an enemy.
Infiltrators will also unlock the Fulton perk that allows them to attach a balloon to an enemy soldier much faster than usual. Another good thing to note is that CQC Stealth also allows you to break out of chokeholds quickly, so that’s a good thing to keep in mind should you ever find yourself at the enemy’s mercy.
Experiment With Your Loadout
Infiltrators will also get a cool support item called the Plushy Snare. Using this on the field will cause any unsuspecting enemies to get ensnared by the cute charm of your plushy, leaving them vulnerable to attacks. It’s silly, I know, but that’s what the Infiltrator’s all about – entrapping enemies with their devilish charms before going in for the fatal blow.
Well, maybe not. But my point is, remember to customize your loadout from time to time. The Infiltrator unlocks a lot of cool attachments and support weapons as the class levels up, and you may find that some of these are more in tune with your own personal play style than the preset loadouts the class provides.
