Mercy’s Overwatch Concept Art Reveals a Surprisingly Different Take on the Hero

A most impressive display.

Mercy has become one of the most iconic Overwatch characters for her angelic design and demure appearance. She’s the very definition of a support character who heals her team and brings them back to life. However, it seems like Blizzard also had some other ideas for the hero in the past. The game’s concept art has surfaced online, revealing Mercy’s interesting concept as a tall and dark-skinned man with white hair.

While the suit is practically similar, there’s a striking difference with the overall character. While healers are known for being fragile and delicate, it’s interesting to see how Mercy was once looked like a tough and buff man. That said, netizens have fallen in love with the design and have even made their own art for the character.

Despite Blizzard ultimately deciding to go with the designs we have today, it’s great that they’ve shared the different iterations of the Overwatch heroes. The healer has been quite a popular pick following her recent rework, but it seems like Blizzard is still tweaking her abilities.

You can play as Mercy in Overwatch for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
